There are a few ATMs in Rishikesh where you can withdraw money from your card. They will give you cash in rupees. Some ATMs take a commission for their service, and few years ago, there were some ATMs that do not (try ATM that is located near the main office of Swarg Ashram).
If you have brought dollars or euros and want to exchange them in Rishikesh, you don’t need to look for a bank. You can exchange your money at some jewelry shops in Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula, and in some travel agencies. Walk around the market street in Ram Jhula and the main street in Laxman Jhula to study rates of different shops.
You can also receive payment transfers like the Western Union and Moneygram in such jewelry shops. They will give you cash in rupees only.
